During an interview last week, I was asked
“How do you see the trend of early childhood education in Malaysia?”
I paused for a moment and said,
It could be viewed from many aspects.
But if I zoom in from my professional lens as a dietitian,
I believe what children eat in preschool is deeply important.
Eating habits are built before the age of 6
after that, it becomes part of their identity, and we can’t easily change it.
And when I say poor nutrition,
I don’t mean children not eating enough food.
I mean eating foods that are low in nutrition quality
highly processed, low in natural fibre, poor in essential nutrients.
Because here’s what many people don’t realise
Poor nutrition in early childhood doesn’t just affect physical health or immunity.
It also impacts speech development, focus, and attention span
all linked to how the brain and nervous system mature.
Nutrition isn’t just about feeding the body.
It’s about shaping how the brain learns, speaks, and grows.
And this is what we care about most at Bright Leaders Early Years Centre,
feeding bright minds for bright futures.
Here, education meets science, and care meets purpose.
